Privacy policy.
Last updated September 19, 2026. This policy explains what DatumHorizon (datumhorizon.com) collects when you visit, how it is used, and the choices you have.
The short version
- DatumHorizon is a free website of public data. There are no accounts, sign-up forms, or comments, and we do not ask you for personal information.
- We use Google Analytics to measure how the site is used and Google AdSense to show advertising. Google’s tools use cookies and similar technologies for these purposes.
- We do not sell personal information. If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, analytics and advertising cookies are used only if you agree in our consent message.
Who we are
DatumHorizon is an independent publisher of web pages built from public data. You can contact us at hello@datumhorizon.com. For privacy laws that use the term, DatumHorizon is the controller of the information described here.
Information we collect and why
- Hosting and delivery. The site is served by Amazon Web Services (Amazon S3 and CloudFront). To deliver a page, AWS processes standard request data such as your IP address, browser type, and the address requested. We have not turned on access logging for the site, and we do not use this data to identify you.
- Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are useful. It records events such as page views, scrolling, clicks on links that leave the site, downloads of our CSV and JSON files, and searches made with the site’s search box (search words can appear in the page address as
?q=), together with your browser, device type, language, approximate location, and how you arrived. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. We keep analytics data for no longer than 14 months. - Advertising. See the advertising section below.
- Messages you send us. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it to reply and to keep a record of corrections and requests, and we keep it for as long as needed for that purpose.
Cookies and similar technologies
- DatumHorizon itself does not set cookies.
- Google Analytics sets first-party cookies named
_gaand_ga_followed by our measurement ID, to recognize a returning browser. - Google’s advertising technology may set or read cookies and other identifiers, for example
__gads,__gpi, andIDE, when ads are requested or shown. - You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site works without them. Google describes its cookies at policies.google.com/technologies/cookies.
Advertising
We use Google AdSense to show ads on this site, and the site loads Google’s advertising code. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a person’s prior visits to this website or other websites. Google’s advertising cookies let Google and its partners serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and to other sites on the internet. Other third-party vendors and ad networks may also serve ads or place cookies here, and each has its own privacy policy.
You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google Ads Settings or at aboutads.info. To learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
Consent and your choices
If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, a consent message from Google’s consent management platform asks whether cookies and data may be used for analytics and advertising. You can consent, decline, or manage your options. Until you choose, analytics is limited to signals that do not use cookies. You can change your choice at any time by clearing this site’s cookies and storage in your browser, which shows the message again. Visitors elsewhere can use the opt-outs above, their browser settings, or the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
Sharing and service providers
We share information only with the service providers described here: Google (analytics and advertising) and Amazon Web Services (hosting). We do not sell personal information. Some laws treat advertising cookies as a “sale” or “sharing” of information, and the opt-outs above cover that. We may disclose information if the law requires it. Pages on this site link to other websites, such as government data sources, which have their own privacy practices.
International transfers
Google and AWS process information in the United States and other countries. Where required, transfers rely on safeguards such as standard contractual clauses or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, for example in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or California and other US states, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of your personal information, to object to certain uses, to withdraw consent, and to complain to a data protection authority. We do not keep accounts or profiles, so most information about your visit is held by Google and AWS under their own policies, and Google provides tools to manage it (linked above). For information we hold, such as an email you sent us, write to hello@datumhorizon.com and we will respond as applicable law requires. Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on your consent for analytics and advertising cookies, and on our legitimate interest in operating and securing the site for basic delivery.
Children
The site is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Security
Pages are served over HTTPS. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
